 | Project Implementation structure | | |
FAO has the overall responsibility for the implementation of the EAF-Nansen Project, in close collaboration with IMR which is responsible for the operation of the R/V Dr Fridtjof Nansen and for providing scientific advice and technical inputs to the project.
Under institutional arrangement for the project, there is provision for a Regional Steering Committee for each of the four operational areas of the project, namely the Canary Current LME area, the Guinea Current LME area, the Benguela Current LME area and the Agulhas and Somali Currents LME area. There is also an Advisory Group constituted to give an independent direction to the project, and to play the role of a global “Steering Committee” (i.e. to assess the project progress and give advice to the project management to ensure effective implementation of the project). The Advisory Group looks across the regions and brings in experiences from outside the project area on EAF.
An Annual Forum is to meet once a year for progress reporting, dissemination of experiences, identification of best practices and discussion of strategies. Members of the Forum will be all project partners involved in implementation of EAF related projects and partner countries of these projects.
These arrangements are presented schematically below.
